Barathaven Alzheimer's Special Care Center provides a uniquely warm and inviting atmosphere for those suffering from dementia.  The center is designed specifically for those suffering with memory loss and the programs are designed to build upon the resident's strenghts. 

The staff offer around-the-clock care and support to each individual with a determination to make the best of whatever the future may hold.  The philosophy of care is to live in the moment and take one step at a time.  Each resident is encouraged to function at their highest level possible. 

Activities are structured to maintain each resident's skills and abilities.  Their lives are enhanced by listening to music, singing, baking and doing crafts.  Exercise programs and pet visits are an important part of the daily routine as well. Family and visitors are welcome to participate in activiites and spend time reminiscing with their loved one. 

Three things that set them apart:
- Dementia Care is all they do.  Their staff is trained to meet the residents' needs.  Their facility is designed to accommodate their safety and comfort.
- They are able to keep someone with dementia through the end of their life, and therefore eliminate the difficult task of moving them.
- They have nurses on staff 24 hours a day.  Unlike other Assisted Living facilities, they  always have a nurse availableto assess a resident's needs.
